TAMALYN TANIS, CF – L1, CROSSFIT KIDS, OWNER
As someone that is passionate about competition and fitness, Tamalyn is more commonly associated with her volleyball coaching and playing experience here in the Roanoke Valley. A graduate of Cave Spring, Tamalyn has been the varsity volleyball coach since 2002 and has led the Knights to multiple state titles. As a collegiate volleyball athlete, Tamalyn was exposed to weightlifting/conditioning and worked to maintain a certain level of fitness for the past 20+years. It wasn’t until 2012 that all her fitness worlds collided and she was introduced to the melting pot of workouts known as CrossFit. It was through CrossFit that she foundsomething that was “not routine” and something that she could constantly be improving upon. Always a competitor the drive to compete with herself is what was so fascinating with CrossFit.
As a coach, Tamalyn was instantly drawn to wanting to understand the fundamentals and to share that with others. She received her Level 1 training in May 2014 and her CrossFit kids certification in January 2016. Her goal is to show that CrossFit is functional fitness for everyone. “We all need to be the best version of ourselves – not only to glorify the God that created us, but to be physically able to help and inspire those around us in need.” Tamalyn is married to Mark Tanis and they have one daughter, Avery.
In addition to her L-1 and CrossFit Kids, Tamalyn has also attended the Jon North “Attitude Nation” weightlifting seminar.
